BeSpeak Spirit is a non-profit organization connecting and empowering African and African-American youth.
We currently serve the Seribadiambougou village in the Bougouni region of Mali, Africa with support for water pumps, school supplies for the village school and a medical clinic. All projects are requested, supported by and maintained by Malian youth and elders in the village.
In the United States, we host an Ancestry + Identity Leadership program and a Rite of Passage program including a Homeland Journey for Black youth.
BeSpeak Spirit has partnered with Blaqmoji, LLC to develop culturally relevant curriculum that celebrates the contributions of Africans and African Americans to the world.
All projects are identified and maintained by the Seribadiambougou village. Supporting self-sufficiency + long term sustainability is at the core of our work. We are currently in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the University of Bamako for replicating the success of this effort in other villages.
Our work with Black youth in the US is centered on affirming positive identity, learning African history + ancestry and creating connections with African youth while developing leadership skills.
